Travels
The following pages are diary and photo records
of our various trips within Australia and overseas.
China - 2008
|
In March 2008 Mary and I
travelled to Fujian (Tasmania's Sister Province) in China
with seven other members of the Tasmanian Branch of the
Australia China Friendship Society.
Our visit was semi official as
apart from the touristy sites we also visited a Middle
School and University that had links with Tasmania, as well
as the Education Department and two country schools that the
Association had assisted in the past.
The following images and diary
gives more of an insight into our activities over the
sixteen days.

Broome to Darwin - June 2007
| This trip was 12
months in the planning before Mary, Steve, Vicki and I
flew from Hobart to Broome via Melbourne and Perth with
Virgin Blue for our thirty days in the Top End. After
landing in Broome we picked up our Landcruiser with the
number plate "Tweety" for our trip to Darwin via
Cape Leveque, Tunnel Ck NP, Geike Gorge, The Bungle
Bungles, Katherine Gorge, Kakadu and Litchfield. The
weather ranged from wonderful to the coldest June day on
record when we were in Katherine.

Overland Track, Cradle Mountain, Tasmania - Feb 2007
| I had only
walked the Overland Track in the winter, and Mary had
never walked the whole track so we decided to do it
together in relative comfort. Booked with Cradle Mountain
Huts in plenty of time to get a window in February,
usually the best month to walk the high country in
Tasmania. As it turned out the weather was wonderful and
we were looked after extremely well.

Great Ocean Road to Rutherglen - Sep/Oct 2005
| I have been a
member of the All Saints Wine Club since 1991 and we
always wanted to eat at their restaurant at Rutherglen. So
Mary, Steve, Vicki and I went to Rutherglen via The Great
Ocean Road, Coonawarra, Adelaide, Swan Hill and Echuca. It
was a very enjoyable trip and the restaurant was worth it.
